Note to Self (5.31.23)

Everything you have can be gone in an instant... Here are today's journal entries amidst a challenging time of my life:
You can't allow material things to control your life because when they're gone, they cease to exist. By valuing things beyond material quality, you invest in something that lasts and can be loved beyond material existence.
Love is powerful. We hold feelings of love at the core of our being - and yet, we confuse what truly deserves our love with what strips us of the true ability to share in it.
Love is the best part of our being, therefor our ability to act out of love is our opportunity to express our best selves toward the things that matter most in our lives. Lean into who you love, what you love, and how you express love.
We will never be entirely free of emotions of worry, pain, guilt, stress, or whatever else hangs over our heads. Only at the earliest stage of our lives did we live so freely of hardship. Because we can't escape struggle, we should lean into what makes us feel better - more at peace with the imperfections of our humanity.
“I never want to feel this way again.” True urgency is rooted in this statement.
“When you want to succeed as badly as you want to breathe, then you will be successful.” (Eric Thomas)
We have to get to the point where we believe ourselves to be desperate for something we don't currently have. Tomorrow is too long to wait. Sacrificing today's opportunity means another day spent feeling the same way, enduring the same challenges.
It's not the struggle that's the issue; it's our inability to overcome a challenge and the false belief that we never will.
Prove yourself more than capable of enduring and overcoming all that stands in your way.
Note to Self: Act now. Save tomorrow.
Until then,
Austin
