Note to Self (06.15.23)

Everything comes with a cost. Each decision prompts an action and each action prompts an outcome.
It may feel like you make one wrong decision and suddenly, there is a runaway train of irreversible consequences. In a more positive sense, the opposite can also be true. You are always one right decision away from a stream of amazing opportunity.
The power, then, lies in the decisions we make.
“May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears” (Nelson Mandela)
If you build an awareness around one thing, make it the conscious effort to not act out of fear.
Playing scared often results in the exact outcome we tried so hard to avoid. As if a self-fulfilling prophecy, we make real the nightmare that we just couldn’t shake, when the same opportunity presented itself to discover a dream, instead.
Our thoughts and actions result in agreements established and upheld with time.
If you think you aren’t good enough - that you will fail - and your actions are driven out of this fear, then yes, you will realize truth in this agreement. But if you recognize this false belief, and become conscious of your thoughts and each resulting action, you can create whatever reality you desire.
What agreements have you made with yourself recently?
“Every decision you make reflects your evaluation of who you are.” (Marianne Williamson)
Truly, we are in control. Things will happen outside of our control, but once the externally imposed circumstance is recognized, we can foster the internal power to react appropriately, and decide the best course of action thereafter.
A powerful message that I’ve heard recently, “focus on taking the next right action.”
Let’s not overcomplicate the situation by projecting multiple steps into the future. Center your energy on what’s immediately in your control: the next decision.
Do this enough and confidence begins to build. You establish an agreement with yourself that you know how to handle challenging situations - that you are strong beyond measure.
We’re all creating something. The future won’t lie. Will you be proud of the decisions you’ve made, or will you have regret? Do the next right thing and you will be on the right track.
Note to Self: You will only ever have yourself to blame (and thank).
